Message Recap | 2.15.2015
Speaker: Donnie Stuart, Youth/Young Adult Pastor
I have a confession to make. I don’t spend any time in the gym nor do I work out. I’m not proud of that statement, but it’s the truth. I’ve had exercise equipment in my home over the many years I’ve lived. I used it for a few months and then it began to draw dust and finally found its way to a garage sale. I’ve just not put much thought into keeping on with it.
But today, I share even more with you about physical well-being or physical health then wanting to work out. I will share God’s point of view and what God says about the physical health portion of our life. Now, this will be a touchy subject and the tendency is going to be that walls will be built. But God wants to shed His light into areas of our life that WE would rather keep in the dark.
Our theme verse has been Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of the world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind.
You want to know something? Our God is constantly calling us out of the comfortable and into the courageous. Courageous enough to open doors of insecurity, courageous enough to change bad habits into God habits, and courageous enough to be all that He has created us to be.
When it comes to physical health, there is so much more we can cover – health and fitness is a multi-million dollar industry, so you are not going to learn everything that you need to know on how to get beach body ready in time for summer, but I do believe that every transformation starts with a step – so today might be a tiny step for some or a giant leap for others.
Physical fitness is important to God. It’s something that we all have to work at and deal with and one thing I believe strongly is that God did not set us up for failure. Our bodies are supernaturally created by God and so incredible that they can mend themselves. Our bodies adapt to survive by being able to endure even extreme circumstances of stress, the weather and our work environments.

Friend, God called us to live this life on purpose and there is a game plan that God has for our life. He created us for a reason. We are not here by happenstance, circumstance, or accident. He has a playbook for our lives and wants us to live victoriously. And victory includes a healthy physical body. Our bodies and what we do with them reflect Christ. God honors those that honor Him with their bodies. Take some time this week to reflect on your physical health. You might want to take some notes and prioritize some time to get up, get going, and allow the Holy Spirit to empower you to a new and healthier life.
